1989
The very first Hirschegg workshop took place at the Soellerhaus form August 30 - September 1989. It was organized by W. L. Wendland and Gerald Warnecke. The workshop title was "Mathematische Grundlagen und Numerische Analysis" and was planed as a meeting of different research groups working together in a joint research project of the Stiftung Volkswagenwerk called "Entwicklung von Berechnungsverfahren für Probleme der Strömungsmechanik."
In this joint research project participated ten groups from eight universities (Aachen, Bochum, Darmstadt, Erlangen, Hamburg, Kalsruhe (2), Stuttgart).
